It is precisely for these reasons that we have developed light solutions that are compatible with our insulated roofs.
Our clear roofing panels are designed to integrate perfectly with the profiles of our sandwich panels. The FALK range includes insulated rooflights and non-insulated clear roof panels with corrugated, trapezoidal or TR3+ profiles. Our solutions are available in lengths from 500 mm to 7.500 mm.
Natural daylight in your building
Natural daylight is a crucial factor in creating a comfortable working and living environment for people and animals. FALK offers several solutions for this. If you decide to go for an insulated roof using sandwich panels, there are several possible light solutions to choose from – from an uninsulated, double-walled clear roof panel to an insulated rooflight, commonly known as a rooflight panel. These light solutions offer many benefits, with the emphasis on creating a pleasant working and living environment.
Our translucent panels (both roof panels and rooflights) offer up to 74% light transmission, which means your building will be flooded with light. As well as being widely used in horse stables and agricultural buildings, these translucent panels can also be installed on sheds, offices and even homes. Both versions of the clear roof panel are finished with a non-fade film that acts as a UV barrier for optimum light transmission and prevents the panels from discolouring.
What’s the difference between a clear roofing panel and a rooflight?
Clear roofing panels and rooflights are polycarbonate panels that allow light to pass through, and come in various profiles. These panels integrate perfectly with our sandwich panels and offer a high level of light transmittance, up to 74%.
Clear roofing panel
The polycarbonate clear roof panel is available in two versions, clear and opal. The clear model has a light transmittance of around 74%, while the opal version has a lower light transmittance of 40%. This single-walled panel has little to no insulation, so it’s important to keep this in mind when making your choice.
Rooflight
Like the clear roofing panels, the rooflights are available in clear (74% light transmission) and opal (40% light transmission). They also have good insulation properties, as they consist of two polycarbonate panels with an insulating layer of air in between. Compared to the single-walled roof panel, this provides a better insulation value for your entire building. The air trapped between the polycarbonate panels acts as an insulator, keeping the warm air inside. So, in a nutshell, the difference between clear roof panels and rooflights is the insulation value; a rooflight has a much higher insulation value and superior airtightness, which contributes to the climate inside the building.
Transparent corrugated panels
Transparent corrugated panels, such as our FALK 1000 GL clear roof panel, are a widely used product in the sandwich panel industry. These transparent corrugated panels offer many advantages and, thanks to their corrugated profile, can also be used on roofs with steel corrugated sheets. Many older roofs have asbestos corrugated sheets that need replacing – in which case a FALK roof panel with a corrugated profile is a good option. It provides good insulation while still maintaining the traditional look of a corrugated roof. By combining these roof panels with transparent roof panels or rooflights, you can immediately start to benefit from a lighter and more comfortable indoor climate.
Skylight or light ridge
Skylights consist of multiple clear roof panels. You can create a skylight by combining several rooflights or panels. A good example of this can be found at Manege Leeuwarden, where a skylight has been applied to a sandwich panel roof. A skylight on a roof with insulated sandwich panels creates a stunning effect in your building or industrial hall. And it goes without saying that the clear rooflight panels are available with different profiles. The same concept can also be applied to a ridge; here, translucent ridge pieces are placed side by side, letting in natural light from the highest point of the building, the ridge.
Daylighting system for sandwich panel roofs
Powerdaylight’s daylighting system, formerly known as Solatube, is a very compact daylighting system. It consists of a reflective daylight tube, an interior finishing ring and a skylight finishing frame in GL, TR or TR3+ profiles. Perfect for homes, stables, sheds and other buildings fitted with sandwich panels. Two options are available, the 35cm tube and the larger 53cm tube.
Transparent sandwich panel for façades
FALK also supplies transparent building elements for the façade. These polycarbonate light elements have many advantages that complement those of insulated wall panels; they have optimal thermal insulation, are lightweight and relatively inexpensive compared to other glazing systems. In which colours are FALK insulated panels available?
FALK insulated panels are available in almost every colour imaginable. In most cases, the exterior skin is finished with a high-quality coating manufactured by Tata Steel (Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® or Colorcoat Prisma®); the standard finish for the interior skin is FALK Off-White. Insulated façade panels are the ideal carrier for your favourite accessories. Wood, solar panels, green walls and composite materials can all be mounted on our insulated façade panels, especially when using the appropriate insulated carrier panels. We are happy to advise on the maximum load and load-bearing capacity and on the best way to attach the panels and accessories.
