What are sandwich wall insulation panels?
Insulated wall panels are the perfect prefabricated building elements to finish off the architectural façade of your building. FALK sandwich panels are available in almost any colour and are delivered made to measure – a great way to add a sleek finishing touch to your façade! An insulated wall panel consists of three components:
A profiled metal exterior skin: This is the outer layer of the wall panel, with a robust, weatherproof coating.
PIR insulation core: To insulate the façade sandwich panel, we apply a layer of PIR insulation to the profiled sheet. PIR is a unique composition of various chemical components. The thicker the insulation core, the higher the insulation value of your insulated roofing panel. FALK also offers a circular version of the insulation core for wall panels, the CradleCore®.
A profiled metal interior skin: The combination of two steel sheets with insulation in between creates a ‘sandwich’ effect. The result? A strong, rigid product. The interior skin also provides a sleek, hard-wearing finish.
Here at FALK, we have our own modern continuous production line for the manufacture of our sandwich wall panels with insulation. We combine high-quality raw materials (steel and PIR) to create modern sandwich wall panels that meet the latest requirements for fire resistance, circularity and airtightness. We roll the exterior skin into the desired model, after which we apply the PIR insulation in the desired core thickness. The façade sandwich panels are then cut to size and transported to the building site in our own lorries.
FALK insulated wall panels: The advantages
A sandwich wall panel is a type of panel that consists of two thin sheets of metal with a layer of insulation between them. These insulated wall panels are often used because of the following advantages:
Good thermal insulation: The PIR insulation layer in the middle helps to keep heat inside the building in winter and to keep it out in summer, which helps to reduce energy costs.
High-strength: Sandwich panels are strong and stable, making them suitable for all types of buildings. Accessories can also be attached to these panels (after running the necessary tests and calculations).
Less maintenance: Façade sandwich panels have no joints, making them less susceptible to moisture ingress. This, in turn, makes them less susceptible to damage and discolouration and means less maintenance is required.
Quick and easy to install: Insulated wall panels are easy to install, which helps to cut down on construction time.
Various options available: Sandwich panels for façades are available in different thicknesses, colours and finishes – which means they can be customised to meet your building and design specifications.
Insulated wall panels: The colours
Insulated wall panels can be used in a range of colours, sizes and finishes to lend your building the desired appearance. At FALK, we use a variety of high-quality coatings to finish our sandwich façade panels. The most commonly used coatings are Tata Steel’s Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® and Colorcoat Prisma®. Thanks to the unique Confidex® warranty provided by Tata Steel, these coatings are guaranteed for up to 40 years!
In addition to these coatings, FALK offers a beautiful range of its own coatings for adding the finishing touches to your sandwich panels. These include our unique wood-look coatings, which are ideal for giving your insulated wall a beautiful natural look.
Insulated wall panels: The models
It will come as no surprise to hear that everyone has their own preferences when it comes to sandwich panels for façades. Here at FALK, we stock a wide range of insulation panels for walls. The most popular – and the most versatile – sandwich panel for façades is the FALK 1060 WB. These panels, with concealed fixing system, are available in no fewer than seven profiles and can be used for almost any type of project.
For those who are looking for a slightly bolder design and a little more relief on the façade, we also stock a wide range of profiled façade panels – such as the FALK 1000 GL, our beautiful insulated wall panel with corrugated profile. If you prefer a trapezoidal panel, we recommend the FALK 1000 TR and the FALK 1100 TR3+; both are façade sandwich panels with a classic, sleek aesthetic.
In addition to the range of wall panels mentioned above, we also offer solutions for specific applications. For example, the FALK 1140 KV has been specially designed for the cooling and refrigeration sector. This panel can withstand large temperature differences between the indoors and the outdoors, and is renowned for being easy to process. We also offer a sandwich panel that is suitable for use as an interior wall, the FALK 1170 WZ. This model has a visible fixing system.
The FALK 1140 KV has also been specially developed for extreme conditions, such as cold storage rooms, freezer rooms and other projects where airtightness and insulation play a crucial role. The most distinctive feature of the FALK 1140 KV is its lock, with its unique and sophisticated design and a double joint. Like the FALK 1170 WZ, the FALK 1140 KV has a visible attachment system.
Insulated wall panels: Circularity
FALK sandwich panels for façades are also available with a circular insulation core, CradleCore®. FALK Bouwsystemen is the first manufacturer in the world to offer a circular sandwich panel. We only have one planet, so we need to use its natural resources wisely. A choice for FALK sandwich wall panels with CradleCore® insulation is a choice for recycling. CradleCore® is a guarantee that we will recycle and reuse the sheets to create new insulated building products. This way, raw materials will be available for future generations and you will achieve significant environmental benefits!
In which colours are FALK sandwich panels available?
FALK sandwich panels are available in almost every colour imaginable. In most cases, the exterior skin is finished with a high-quality coating manufactured by Tata Steel (Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® or Colorcoat Prisma®); the standard finish for the interior skin is FALK Off-White. Can I also attach accessories to my façade sandwich panels?
Façade sandwich panels are the ideal carrier for your favourite accessories. Wood, solar panels, green walls and composite materials can all be mounted on our façade sandwich panels, especially when using the appropriate carrier panels. We are happy to advise on the maximum load and load-bearing capacity and on the best way to attach the panels and accessories.
What colours are available for the interior skin of my flat roof panels?
"The standard interior coating for flat roof panels is FALK Off-White. As the panels are manufactured at FALK, you can choose from a wide range of coatings and colours. A popular alternative to FALK Off-White is FALK Reflective White, a reflective traffic white coating that helps save energy. This coating reflects up to 85% of light, so light can be used intelligently in the building: fewer light sources are needed than with a normal coating, which reduces energy costs and cuts down on carbon emissions. For a more industrial look, you can also go for a darker coating. For example, a FALK Black Matt coating was chosen for this shed. This gives the building a completely different character.
